All the members have worked in a voluntary capacity at some point. Max is a volunteer at FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance and has just returned from Tajikistan and Afghanistan co-ordinating disaster relief - Photos 1 and Photos 2.
We (Passionately) Stand for:
- Voluntary service as an integral part of a healthy society.
- Volunteering as a means towards real personal growth and fulfillment.
- Voluntary service as a powerful force for positive social change at grassroots level.
- Voluntary work as an efficient means of organising a community's resources - as an effective economic system that sits between the Free Market and Government.
- Voluntary service as a means of combatting excessive materialism, urban alienation and modern cynicism.
And not:
- Stereotyping voluntary service as only applying to one particular age or social group.
- Limiting voluntary work to registered charities only.
- Using volunteers as cheap labor :)
